WMU FU-08 October 2008
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.08
Field Panel Identification: Prior to geomembrane deployment, Vector's CQA
Monitor and GSE discussed and agreed to the identification code for each panel
deployed. During the deployment, Vector's CQA Monitor observed that the installer
marked the panels deployed and that each panel placed was marked with the
manufacturer's roll number.
Field Panel Placement: During the panel placement, Vector's CQA Monitor kept
panel deployment logs. These logs recorded the location (panel number and roll
number), installation schedule (date and time), weather conditions (temperature
and wind), and thickness of the sheet. Designation of double sided textured
geomembrane was assigned a prefix of"D" and the single sided geomembrane was
assigned a prefix of "S". These panel deployment logs are presented within
Appendix I.
5.3.2.2 Field Seamin
Seam Layout: Vector's CQA Monitor documented that the seam numbering system
is compatible with the panel numbering system. A seam numbering system was
assigned by using both panel numbers separated with a dash (i.e.: D-3/S-4 is the
seam of double-textured panel 3 and single-textured panel 4).
Seaming Equipment and Products: Vector's CQA Monitor observed that the
seaming equipment used by the subcontractor was in accordance with the project
specifications. In addition, Vector observed that the extrudate (welding rod) used
was compatible with the geomembrane material and was comprised of the same
resin as the geomembrane.
The liner crews seamed the HDPE geomembrane panels using double wedge and
extrusion welding techniques. The majority of seams were joined using double
wedge welders, with difficult geometry and repairs made using extrusion welders.
Vector Engineering, Inc. • 143E Spring Hill Drive• Grass Valley, CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-26-
