1
1 Summary of Northern California Youth Center Sampling Results for January 17,2008
Forward Landfill-Austin Road Unit,California Page_2
The January 2008 field blank samples yielded no detectable concentrations of VOCs. All VOCs were
1 reported as non-detect in the trip blank sample. Duplicate sample results for the January 2008 sampling
event were similar to the original sample results, indicating good reproducibility. Based on previous
site evaluations, the facility's water supply system provides continuous chlorination treatment to the
1 water supply. Bromoform is commonly associated with chlorinated water. The presence of
bromoform, as shown on the attached table, in the indoor faucet sample and indoor faucet duplicate
sample are assumed to be the result of the chlorination process.
Forward Landfill and the NCYC continue to pursue extending municipal water to the NCYC facility.
Forward Landfill reports that it is currently in the permitting phase of the project. The design work has
1 been completed and the contractor bidding process is currently underway. Forward Landfill personnel
have indicated that certain specifications of the project must be discussed with the City of Stockton and
the NCYC before installation of the water supply line can begin.
1 Sincerely,
Herst&Associates,Inc.
ffJ ,V2,1
1 Ward Herst,PG,HG David Vasbinder
Managing Director Staff Geologist
California PG#7150
' California HG#775
Cc: Ross Atkinson—RWQCB
' Robert McClellon—San Joaquin County LEA
Reuben Ramirez—Forward Landfill
Lochlin Caffey—Forward Landfill
' Attachment—January 2008 VOC Detection Table
Laboratory Analytical Results
1
1
