1
1 Summary of Northern California Youth Correctional Center Sampling Results for January 20,2009
Forward Landfill-Austin Road Unit California Page 2
The January 2009 field blank samples yielded one detectable VOC in each sample. Chloroform was
' detected in both field blank samples at similar, yet very low concentrations. The field blanks collected
in the vicinity of Well #4 and the indoor faucet reported concentrations of 0.70 µg/1 and 0.77 µg/1
respectively. A common cause of field blank detections is impure deionized water supplied by the
laboratory, utilized while filling and collecting the field blank samples. There were no chloroform
detections in the well or indoor faucet samples. All VOCs were reported as non-detect in the trip blank
sample. Duplicate sample results for the January 2009 sampling event were similar to the original
sample results,indicating good reproducibility.
Sincerely,
1 Herst&Associates,Inc.
David Vasbinder Ward Herst,PG,HG
' Project Geologist Managing Director
California PG#7150
California HG#775
1 Cc: Howard Hold—RWQCB
Robert McClellon—San Joaquin County LEA
Reuben Ramirez—Forward,Inc.
Don Litchfield—Forward,Inc.
Attachments: Table 1—VOC Detection Tables per Location
1 Laboratory Analytical Results
1
1
1
1
1
1
i
1
