1,0 INTRODUCTION
<br /> On behalf of Forward Inc. (Forward),this report presents water quality monitoring data
<br /> generated during the second quarter 2010 monitoring period for the Forward Landfill in
<br /> San Joaquin County, California. Monitoring was performed in accordance with
<br /> requirements listed in the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
<br /> (RWQCB) Order No. R5-2003-0049. For reporting purposes the water quality
<br /> monitoring network consists of two units: the Forward Unit and the Austin Unit. Section
<br /> 1 provides a description of the monitoring network, site inspections, and standard
<br /> observations; Sections 2 and 3 include discussions of water quality data for the Forward
<br /> and Austin Units,respectively.
<br /> 1.1 MONITORING NETWORK
<br /> The water quality monitoring network at the Forward Unit currently includes 15
<br /> groundwater monitoring wells (five of which are dual depth well pairs), one domestic
<br /> well,two surface water monitoring stations, and 171ysimeters(Figure 1-1). Monitoring
<br /> wells at the Forward Unit have been constructed to monitor groundwater at the facility as
<br /> follows:

<br /> The monitoring network at the Austin Unit currently includes 18 groundwater monitoring
<br /> wells,two domestic wells,and two surface water monitoring stations (Figure 1-1). Of
<br /> note,wells AMW-5R and AMW-19BR were constructed to replace wells AMW-5 and
<br /> AMW-19B,which were abandoned, and wells AMW-13B,AMW-21, AMW-22, and
<br /> AMW-23 were constructed as part of an on-going evaluation monitoring program (EMP).
<br /> The detection monitoring program(DMP) wells are used to detect for a potential release
<br /> from the landfill, while the corrective action program(CAP)wells are used to evaluate
<br /> changes in water quality caused by releases from the landfill and by subsequent
<br /> corrective action measures. Monitoring points at the Austin Unit have been constructed
<br /> to monitor the groundwater/surface water at the facility as follows:
