Construction Activities
1. Guinn Construction continued processing native Clay Liner soils in the SEC of FU -10; the D6 rips
into the soil, followed by the Cat 4206D with disc and the water buck for moisture conditioning. The
D6 also trims the east side -slope within the clay borrow as excavation proceeds.
2. Guinn Construction continued placement of the 3rd lift of low permeable Clay Liner soils across the
north half of the module and the first lifts in the south half of the module. Scrapers delivered moisture
conditioned clays from the processing area and spread the soils in "thin" 4" to 6" loose lifts.
Compaction and mixing of the clay soils is accomplished by the 815 sheepsfoot compactor;
additional compactive effort is by scrag traffic. The contractor used 2 loaded 637 scrapers to wheel
roll and seal the clays before leaving for the weekend.
II. CQA Activities
1. CQA pounded ASTM D1557A Proctor on Clay Liner sample CLS -2.
2. CQA performed -200 wash on Clay Liner sample CLS -2.
3. CQA performed 12 nuclear method moisture -density tests in compacted Clay Liner 2°d lift soils
placed in the north half of FU -10. Tests CL-lA, 2A and 3A were retests. The first pair of insitu
Shelby tube samples, STCL-2AA and 2AB were collected at retest location CL -2; additional tests
CL -4 through CL -12 were performed. All tests indicated passing results.
4. CQA shipped Shelby tube samples STCL-2AA and 2AB to the AusencoVector laboratory in Grass
Valley for flex -wall permeability tests.
III.
