Thanks...............Gino
From: Litchfield, Don [DLitchfield@republicservices.com]
Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2010 3:29 PM
To: Walker, Scott; Yekta, Gino
Cc: Robert McClellon [EH]; Basso, Kevin
Subject: Forward LF proposed 2010 Gas Plan Improvements
Scott/Gino,
Thanks for your time today to discuss our proposed solutions to the gas migration issues at Forward LF. Forward is proposing to
install five new deep gas extraction wells(-110 feet) into old Austin, nine new gas extraction wells in FU-03 through FU-06, and 10
SVE wells along the south western slope of Austin. These three activities are shown on pages 3 and 4 of the attached plan. As
discussed, the combination of the new gas and sve wells will provide additional gas control and consistent compliance with our
Perimeter Gas Probes GP-10, 11 and 12. The sve wells would only be used as necessary for season fluctuations in gas
production. We would plan to begin construction by the end of September, assuming we can get our Plan approved and permits
acquired. I am expecting that we can get the gas field tuned and the Probes back into compliance within 3 months after
completion of the proposed work. I am meeting with Ross Atkinson/RWQCB on September 16th to discuss the new gas wells that
are proposed for old Austin, as they would penetrate the existing cap. We are proposing a 10 foot bentonite plug at the cap
interface. I will up date you after that meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions or additional comments on the Plan.
Regards,
Don Litchfield, R.E.A.
Environmental Manager
Republic Services, Inc.
9999 South Austin Road
Manteca, CA 95336
(209) 982-4298 Office
(209) 982-1009 Fax
(209)684-4733 Cell
DLitchfield@republicservices.com
11/10/2010
