The landfill and transfer <br /> station/resource recovery facility were permitted in1S73, The landfill is <br /> operated byForward, the site owner, and ianot open tnthe public. The <br /> resource recovery facility isoperated bySierra Organics. <br /> ` <br /> The Austin Road Sanitary Landfill is located directly north ofthe existing <br /> Forward Landfill, The Austin Road Landfill was originally opened in1354and <br /> has operated continuously until the present,except for etemporary closure <br /> from 1H61to1963and from November 1999huJanuary 20]1. The landfill <br /> has not been opened hothe public since 1964, <br /> |nSeptember 2000. Forward purchased the Austin Road Landfill from the <br /> City ofStockton, Forward ioproposing h»combine the existing Forward and <br /> Austin Road Landfills into one landfill. The combined landfill will beknown as <br /> the Forward Landfill and isreferred toaasuch inthis JTD.
