® Task 4 — Data Analysis
Assuming a twice/month downloading event, Geologic Associates will evaluate the
downloaded data from each monitoring unit on a quarterly basis to incorporate the data
into a running summary. The data will then be imported to an Excel spreadsheet for
interpretation. This task would be repeated throughout the two-year monitoring period,
maintaining a running summary of moisture trends throughout the life of the units at each
moisture location.
Task 5 — Meetings
GLA understands that alternative (ET) final cover systems have not yet gained broad
acceptance from the regulatory agencies and as a result, significant agency interaction is
anticipated for this project. Specifically, while these systems have been approved in many
of the RWQCB regions and interest in them is strong throughout the state, the
Sacramento office of the Central Valley RWQCB has yet to approve them for final
closure. Having already met with the Sacramento office in support of this project, we
anticipate that while they will be receptive, but will likely require a substantial database
prior to approval. As a result, we would anticipate an initial meeting with RWQCB,
CIWMB and LEA staff to establish issues that they would consider critical in review of
the proposed monitoring program. In this way, the subsequent field and analytical efforts
can be tailored to address the most salient issues of the agencies. In addition to this initial
meeting, we anticipate attendance at several progress meetings where preliminary results
can be presented and comments obtained so that final submittals are responsive to the
agencies concerns.
Task 6 - Annual Reports
At the end of the each year of monitoring a report will be prepared to summarize the data
received from the instruments placed within the alternative final cover, to identify
significant identifiable trends and to present conclusions drawn with regard to the
performance of the system as a whole. This report will include a comparison of the
performance of the alternative cover to the published performance characteristics. of
prescriptive final covers in similar environmental settings.
C:\200S-MB21workplan.DO007/11105 —4
Geologic Associates
