For the Austin Unit, no significant changes in the water quality analytical results were noted.
During the fourth quarter 2013 monitoring period, non-statistical exceedances for VOCs were
identified at DMP wells AMW-6, AMW-13, and ANMW-14, of which, statistically significant
increasing temporal trends were calculated for tetrachloroctliene (PCE) and trichloroethene
(TCF) in well AIMW-13 and for PCE at well ANIW-14. These results are similar to previous
results and it has been recommended that wells AiMW-6, ANNIW-1 3, and AiNIW-14 be re-
designated as Corrective Action Program (CAP) wells since they have historically contained
VOCs. For the routine inorganic monitoring parameters, CLs were exceeded for constituent
concentrations in Detection \Monitoring Program(DMP) wells AINA W-12, A1`vIW-13, and ANIW-
14. Trend analyses indicate that statistically significant increasing temporal trends were
calculated for barium and chloride concentrations in wells AMW-12 and AIMW-14. In the CAP
wells, trend analyses are performed instead of comparison to CLs. During the current
monitoring period, statistically significant increasing trends were noted for three VOCs in CAP
well AIMW-1, while decreasing VOC trends were noted for one or more VOCs in CAP wells
A1`vIW-1, AMW-4, AMW-10, ANIW-11, and MAW-I 913R. The (organic decreasing ( anic and
t;' ZD
inorganic)trends noted in most of the CAP wells, suggests that corrective action measures have
been successful in reducing facility related groundwater impacts downgradient of the Austin
Unit.
The results of the annual leachate sample collected for the Austin Unit are similar to those
observed historically. Eight VOCs, one SVOC, I I metals, and numerous inorganic constituents
were detected in the alinual leachate sample. No herbicides or pesticides were detected and no
new COCs were detected.
According to the Forward Landfill Operations klanager, standard observations have been
conducted weekly during the reporting quarter. The Forward Landfill Operations Manager also
reported that no surface water was discharged from the facility during the reporting period.
I certify under penalty of law, that I have personally examined and am familiar with the
information submitted in this document and all attachments, and that based on my inquiry of
those individuals immediately responsible for obtaining this information, I believe that the
information is true, accurate, and complete.
