The QA/QC Manager will review all acceptance test results and report any non-conformance to the Construction Manager and Contractor. Sampling Procedures. Samples will be taken across the entire width of the roll. Unless otherwise specified, samples will be 3 ft (1 m) long by the roll width. The QA/QC Consultant will mark the machine direction on the samples with an arrow. Test Results. The QA/QC Consultant will examine all results from laboratory acceptance testing and will report any nonconformance to the Construction Manager. Acceptance Test Failure. If a Geotextile acceptance sample does not comply with the minimum requirements of the Specifications, the Geotextile roll from which the sample was taken will be failed by the QA/QC Consultant, and replaced by the Geotextile Manufacturer at no additional cost to the Owner. The Design Engineer shall be contacted to determine additional acceptance testing requirements. 4.3.3 Geotextile Installation Surface Preparation. Before geotextile installation, the QA/QC Inspector will: • Verify that all lines and grades have been verified by the Contractor. 0 • Verify that all seaming and required testing of the HDPE geomembrane underlying the cushion geotextile has been completed. • Verify that the granular drainage material underlying the filter geotextile has been placed to the required thickness. Geotextile Placement and Seaming. During geotextile placement and seaming operations, the QA/QC Inspector will: • Observe the geotextile as it is deployed and record all defects and defect corrective actions (panel rejected, patch installed, etc.). Verify that corrective actions are performed in accordance with the specifications. • Verify that equipment used does not damage the geotextile by handling, equipment transit, leakage of hydrocarbons, or other means. • Verify that crews working on the geotextile do not smoke, wear shoes that could damage the geotextile, or engage in activities that could damage the geotextile. • Verify that adjacent panels are overlapped or seamed in accordance with the Page 38 0
