considered a major impact facility and is operated conditionally in the AG-40 zone. Adjacent land uses include agricultural lands to the east, west, and south. The Northern California Youth Center, a criminal detention facility, is located approximately 1,900 feet from the existing Austin Road Landfill and approximately 300 feet north of the soil borrow area. A women's prison is also located north of the site. The Stockton Metropolitan Airport is approximately 7,500 feet west of the existing Austin Road Landfill. The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Intermodal Facility, a 470-acre train/truck cargo transfer and storage facility is located approximately one mile northeast of the site, along the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe railroad main line. As shown on Figure 2, there are three residences located near the site. The residence at 9690 Austin Road is approximately 500 feet from the landfill and is located across Austin Road from the entrance facilities area. Two residences are located on Lynch Road, approximately 0.5 miles southeast of the site. No potential adverse land use impacts are foreseeable due to continued operation and eventual closure of the landfill. 1.2.4 EXISTING TOPOGRAPHY The terrain at the landfill and surrounding vicinity consists of a relatively featureless plain. Both the north and south branches of the South Fork of Little John's Creek (North and South Branches) traverse the site, generally flowing from the east to the west (see Drawing Sheet 2). Original ground surface elevations range from 30 to 40 feet above mean sea level (amsl).
