presented below and summarized in Table 1. The field monitoring logs and laboratory
results are attached.
Operational Summary - As shown in Table 1, between March 31 and June 22, 2017, the
CAP system treated approximately 15,867,200 gallons of groundwater at an average
flow rate of 192,433 gallons per day. During the second quarter 2017 monitoring
period, it is calculated that the GTF removed approximately 0.23 pounds of VOCs.
Del-Tech records indicate that the groundwater extraction and treatment system
experienced the following maintenance issues and periods of downtime during the
second quarter 2017:
• April 28, 2017: Del-Tech reported that well EW-3R was off-line and the breaker
would not reset. Del-Tech pulled the pump and determined that the pump motor
had failed. GLA notified the CVRWQCB of the pump failure. A replacement pump
was installed on June 10, 2017.
Effluent Monitoring — During the monitoring period, effluent samples were collected
monthly and submitted for analysis of VOCs by EPA Method 82608. Table 1 summarizes
the field and analytical results for the GTF during the second quarter 2017 monitoring
period. As shown on Table 1, treated effluent discharged into the infiltration pond
contained trace concentrations of up to three VOCs in the monthly effluent samples. In
addition, cis-1,2-dichloroethene and tetrachloroethene were measured above the practical
quantitation limit during the June sampling event. Total VOC concentrations in the effluent
ranged from 0.6 µg/L to 1.85 Vg/L during the monitoring period.
GLA hopes that the information provided herein is sufficient for your records. If you
have any questions regarding this notification, please call me at (858) 451-1136.
Geologic Associates
William B.
