ithe table below, all of the detected concentrations were below state and federal Maximum
Contaminant Level for drinking water (MCL), with the exception of TCE in the second confirmation
sample. Though not associated with the Forward Landfill, the nitrate/nitrite results of 21 milligrams per
(mg/L) also exceeded the MCL of 10 mg/L.
Analyte
Units
Results
6/21/17
Results
7/6/17
MCL
Nitrate/Nitrite as Nitrogen
Mg/L
NA
22
10
1,1-Dichloroethane
µg/L
0.16j
0.21j
5 µg/L
Dichlorodifluoromethane
µg/L
0.67
ND
NE
Tetrachloroethene
µg/L
1.0
1.5
5 gg/L
Trichloroethene
µg/L
3.4
5.9
5 µg/L
Trichlorofluoromethane
gg/L
0.28j
0.44j
150 µg/L
Notes: j =Indicates an estimated value.
NE = No MCL established for this constituent.
ND = Not detected.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The analytical results indicate that with the exception of PCE and nitrate/nitrite as nitrogen, the MCLS
for drinking water were not exceeded in the groundwater samples collected. MCLS are standards set by
the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the State of California for drinking water
quality. An MCL is the legal threshold limit on the amount of a substance that is allowed in public water
systems under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The elevated nitrate/nitrite as nitrogen concentrations in
groundwater have been attributed to agricultural activities in the surrounding area, while PCE has been
associated with a variety of man-made chemicals commonly associated with certain kinds of household
waste. Out of an abundance of caution, Forward has provided bottled water service for your residence.
Forward has also started the permitting to have your residence connected to municipal water from the
City of Stockton. It is recommended that the well be included in the semiannual monitoring program.
GLA and Forward thank you for participating in this sampling program.
