The fencing, opera-
tional area, and the site in general will be policed regularly for accumulated litter.
Litter along public roads leading to the site will be minimized by the existing
county policy that requires tarps to be placed over open loads. Litter will also be
cleaned up periodically along public road leading to the site.
2.6.4 Dust
Any dust from site operations will be controlled by watering haul roads, applying
a fine spray on soil cover work areas when conditions might create excessive
dust, planting temporary vegetation on intermediate soil cover, and planting and
maintaining vegetation on completed fill and excavation slopes. Access roads
will be paved to the vicinity of active fill areas.
2.6.5 Vector Control
No current pest or rodent problems are apparent near the proposed site. The
following control measures will be taken to prevent a problem from arising:
• Waste will be compacted in thin layers to form cells approximately 6
to 10 feet thick. The top of each cell and the advancing face of the
landfill will be covered daily with a minimum 6 inch thickness of soil.
When additional waste materials will not be placed over the surface
within 180 days, the top and side slopes of the advancing lift will re-
ceive additional cover to provide a minimum 12 -inch -thick interme-
diate soil cover.
• Site personnel will frequently inspect the site for any signs of vector
activity. If such activity is observed, a vector eradication program
will be implemented using a profes ' _pest controller, if neces-
sary."
eces-
sary
• The San Joaquin County Local Health District will` regularly inspect
the Site,,to ensure that control measures are effective.
No pest or rodent problems are known to have occurred at the existing Harney
Lane site.
15
Rev. 0 July 19, 1989
