J
1 fees.
i B. Tipping Fees at County Disposal Sites:
1 1. General Costs:
n.
r
IChapter 9 - Funding 11
11
General costs for the County's solid waste
planning, administration, and operation of
facilities are funded through the Solid Waste
Enterprise Fund. This fund, managed by the
Department of Public Works, receives its revenues
almost exclusively from tipping fees at County
disposal sites. Tipping fees at all County
facilities are set by the Board of Supervisors.
Tipping fee revenues for the 1991-92 Fiscal Year are
estimated to be $7.8 million. For several years the
tipping fees have been a reliable source of revenue
for the SWEF.
The County proposes funding Group One costs
with a recycling surcharge on the disposal site
tipping fees. It should be noted that as disposal
site waste quantities decrease due to SRRE
implementation, so will revenues decrease. This
will drive tipping fees, and surcharges, higher to
maintain a steady stream of revenues.
The following table indicates disposal site
waste stream quantities on which tipping fees are
based during the short-term planning periods. The
table also indicates the annual funding required for
General type costs in the Group One category.
n.
r
IChapter 9 - Funding 11
11
