Inorganics (Dissolved)
Unsaturated Zone
The unsaturated zone monitoring network consists of one background monitoring station, VZ -1
and seven point of compliance monitoring stations, VZ -2 through VZ -8 (Figure 3). These
stations monitor for a potential leachate leak through the landfill liner of Modules 1, 3 and 4.
Samples collected from the unsaturated zone are analyzed for the following semiannual field and
monitoring parameters:
Electrical Conductivity Sulfate
pH Calcium
TDS Magnesium
Chloride Potassium
Carbonate Sodium
Bicarbonate VOCs (Short List)
Nitrate -Nitrogen
Unsaturated zone samples are also analyzed for the following COCs every five ears:
Total Organic Carbon Semi -VOCs
Inorganics (Dissolved) Chlorophenoxy Herbicides
VOCs (Extended List) Organophosphorus Compounds
Unsaturated Zone Soil Pore Gas
In accordance with the Amended Report of Waste Discharge(May 27, 2005) and the Monitoring
and Reporting program, soil gas wells SG -1 through SG -8 will be monitored for combustible gas
quarterly and sampled semiannually for VOCs (EPA Method TO -14A).
Soil gas samples are collected from all probes at soil gas wells SG -1 through SG -8 and from the
soil gas trench under Module 4.
Leachate
Leachate at each sump is monitored monthly for the following field parameters:
Electrical conductivity pH
Samples collected from the leachate sumps are analyzed for the following semiannual
monitoring parameters:
North County RCSL 5 Public Works/Solid Waste
2nd Semester and Annual 2005 Groundwater Monitoring County of San Joaquin — January 24, 2006
