From: Michael Carroll [mcarroll@sjgov.org]
Sent: Tuesday, June 01, 2010 3:57 PM
To: Robert McClellon [EH]
Cc: Natalia Subbotnikova [EH]; Joyesh Chandra
Subject: Abandoning unsuccessful well MW -6 at Harney Lane Landfill
Good afternoon Robert,
Joyesh and I are considering how to leave the unsuccessful well at Harney Lane that we talked to you
about earlier today. The "replacement" well will be installed a few feet away from this first attempt, and
we want to make sure that we don't put neat cement into the aquifer where it would affect the new well.
So we think we should fill inside the casing to the top of the screened interval with sand, then 10 feet of
bentonite above that Oust like the well seal was planned for the outside of the casing), then neat
cement slurry to the surface.
Sound OK?
I
W. Michael Carroll, PE
Senior Civil Engineer, Solid Waste Division
1810 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
Voice: 209468-8504
Fax: 209-468-3078
6/1/2010
