The fire was at the previous <br />day's working face which was covered with Tarpomatic ADC tarps. The LFD was the <br />initial responder and fought the fire with water from about 4:45 a.m. to about 5:35 a.m. <br />when County staff arrived at the site. LFD staff left the site at about 5:45 a.m. and <br />County staff took over and used a water truck and dirt to extinguish the fire. County <br />staff completed covering the affected area with dirt by 7:30 a.m. Attached are before and <br />after pictures of the incident. We will log the incident in the Site's Special Occurrence <br />Log. At this time, per LFD staff, the cause of the fire appears to be a mattress. We will <br />do our own investigation and take the necessary steps to minimize/prevent such <br />incidents in the future. <br />The ADC tarps used on our Tarpomatic machine were completely destroyed and this <br />was the only property damage. However, we have new tarps on hand and we should <br />have them ready to go by the week of August 2nd.
