01 0
NNINKMEAMI
Following is information current as of January 2010.
The North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill (NCRC&SL) receives green waste
materials such as tree trimmings, wood waste, and other yard waste. For the purpose of this
document, "yard waste" refers to green waste, yard waste, wood waste, and any other similar
material processed in this area of the facility.
Treated wood waste will be handled in accordance with the WDRs. Treated wood waste will not
be ground, but will be disposed in the landfill over Subtitle V lined modules.
Yard waste will be stored and handled in accordance with the EIR certified December 5, 2006.
Yard waste processing, including equipment used and locations and volume of storage, may be
adjusted by the County based on the quantity of material received, the use of the material, or as
needed to meet the needs of the customers, objectives of site operations, or regulatory
requirements.
Yard waste is processed at an asphalt paved area south of the recycling center by a private
contractor (Plate 22). This area will be expanded or relocated as needed to process the material
received.
Haulers with loads that are entirely yard waste, including deliveries from the County's Lovelace
Materials Recovery Facility, are sent directly to the yard waste processing area.
Some yard waste is first delivered to the Recycling Center, often combined with other refuse
materials. When feasible, this yard waste is separated from other municipal solid waste and
transported to the yard waste processing area.
North County RC&SL Page 64 of 69 Public Works/Solid Waste
Joint Technical Document County of San Joaquin — February 10, 2010
