Groundwater
contamination by the landfill is not indicated. Conditions of the groundwater are unremarkable, and
consistent with previous quarters.
Full groundwater monitoring continues on a semi-annual basis (first and third quarters) in accordance
with our Waste Discharge Requirements. Supplemental VC analysis of groundwater also continues on
a semi-annual basis (second and third quarters) in accordance with the revised Report of Waste
Discharge.
We are pleased to report that no VOCs are present in the groundwater collected from any well. With the
exception of false positives and similar sporadically reported compounds from lab or other contamination,
VC impact has not been indicated at well G-4 (the "impacted"well) since January 2003, seven years
ago. VOC impact has not been indicated at any other well at any time.
VOCs, usually in low concentrations, were found in most soil gas wells. The continuing presence of
VOCs in the soil gas within our property and the continuing lack of VOCs to groundwater at any well
seem to indicate that the presence of VOCs in the soil at these concentrations does not threaten the
groundwater.
The liquid level in the secondary sump of Module 4 is measured by"bubbler tube" on quarterly. The
level was first measured in the last quarter of 2009, and was found to be 0.5 inches. This small amount
of water, accumulated since installation in 2004, is consistent with condensation, and does not indicate a
liner leak.
We were able to measure the groundwater elevation at upgradient well G-1, but not enough water was
present to purge or sample. We have scheduled to redrill this well for the spring.
