I
tolerance limit methods, and were most recently updated for this report. Analytical results from
this monitoring event were compared to the concentration limits.
Concentration limits are updated where possible. If the historical data contains more than 50%
non-detects, the concentration limit cannot be updated. In these cases, the established
concentration limit listed in the WDRs is used for comparison.
Concentration limits are updated on a yearly basis in accordance with the latest WDRs. As
requested by RWQCB staff, stiff diagrams will be included in the second semiannual and
annual report.
Landfill Gas Collection System
The landfill gas (LFG) collection system was installed in 2006. It consists of seven (7) vertical
wells, and is also attached to the LCRS at two locations. The system is operated in
accordance with the Permit to Operate issued by the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Quality
Management District.
MONITORING RESULTS
Groundwater
Field and Monitorinq Parameters
Monitoring results for the first semiannual period occurred for the.1st Quarter on January 28,
2014 (Table 2) and 2nd Quarter on April 22, 2014 (Table 3). The concentrations of field and
monitoring parameters are below established concentration limits where limits could be
established for all wells, with the exception of well G-1 where a slight exceedence for
magnesium and turbidity was reported during the 1St Quarter sampling event. Well G-1 is
upgradient of the landfill and serves as the background well; thus this exeedence is likely
caused by conditions upgradient and not related to the landfill.
Statistical Analysis
Interwell concentration limits were established from background monitoring well G-1. No
concentration limits were exceeded.
IVOCs
VOCs were not reported in any wells during this semiannual period. Acetone was reported in
well G-1; however, the control blank also indicated the presence of Acetone, making this
detection likely the result of sampling error.
1 With the exception of the short-term detections at G-1 in 2003, VOCs have not been confirmed
at the North County Sanitary Landfill since January 2003.
i North County RC&SL Public Works/Solid Waste
151 Semiannual 2014 Groundwater Monitoring 5 County of San Joaquin—July 31,2014
