BY: M Capps DATE: 3/23/93 CHKD B`r DATE: <br /> Groundwater flow between SB-1 and MW-5 is toward the Northwest <br /> Bidirectional flow has been observed during previous quarters but <br /> was not observed during the first quarter of 1993 <br /> Darcy's Law was used to calculate the average groundwater flow velocity <br /> V = K i/ n <br /> Where: V= Average linear velocity <br /> K= Hydraulic conductivity <br /> i = Hydraulic gradient <br /> n = Porosity <br /> The values used to solve the equation are as follows: <br /> K = 0.00008 centimeters per second <br /> i = difference in elevation between contours horizontal distance between contours <br /> n = 0.3 <br /> K value based on slug test conducted in MW-4 <br /> n value based on published porosity values <br /> The average groundwater flow velocity was calculated between the 234 and 229 foot contour' <br /> lines as follows: <br /> Contour lines: 234 <br /> 229 <br /> Difference in elevation <br /> between contours: 5 <br /> xizontal distance between contour lines: 470 <br /> i = 0.0106 <br /> V = 2.9E-06 centimeters per second <br /> V = 2.97 feet per year <br /> for northwest flow between SB-1 and MW-5 <br /> h:velocity.xls <br />
