IV. PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING IDENTIFIED HAZARDOUS WASTE <br /> If hazardous or other prohibited wastes are found after being <br /> deposited at the site, landfill personnel will move the <br /> unloading operations to a safe area and place traffic cones <br /> around the affected area. If the prohibited wastes are safely <br /> containerized for on-site moving, the site foreman directs <br /> landfill workers to move these materials to temporary storage. <br /> Materials will be moved to an on-site temporary storage locker <br /> for disposal within 90 days . A "Safety Storage, Incorporated, <br /> Model 10" , chemical storage locker has been installed at the site <br /> for this purpose. This storage locker is provided with secondary <br /> containment, explosion venting and may be moved with a forklift. <br /> 13pecifications for this storage locker are contained in <br /> Exhibit S . since the waste stored in the locker will oe removed <br /> within 90 days , the locker is not required to be permitted as a <br /> hazardous waste storage facility. <br /> The County contracts removal of hazardous waste with a licensed <br /> hazardous waste hauler when necessary. <br /> a <br /> If the wastes are a spill, or are not adequately containerized <br /> for on-site moving or storage, the San Joaquin Local Health <br /> District is contacted immediately by telephone and given details <br /> of the incident. Upon being given a description of the materials <br /> and situation, the Health District gives directions to the fore- <br /> man or proceeds to the site if necessary and provides direction <br /> -12- <br />
