I
1
1
C
6.0 SOLID WASTE ASSESSMENT TEST CONCLUSIONS
6.1 HAZARDOUS WASTES
The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is a Class III sanitary landfill which disposes of
municipal, commercial, and industrial solid wastes. Before May 1970 the waste
disposal site accepted some Class I Wastes as reported by the DWR, 1970. These
wastes included (1) an approximately 1 -acre pond in the southwest part of the site that
appeared to contain a significant amount of oil and gas well drilling muds, and (2) a
significant number (several hundred) of pesticide containers deposited in a pit on the
northwest side of the drilling mud pond. The opinion of the DWR personnel was that
the containers and any contents are toxic wastes and should be classified as Class I
wastes.
The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill currently does not accept hazardous wastes for
disposal. Various operating procedures, including load -checking programs, are
employed at the site to prevent the acceptance and disposal of hazardous wastes.
6.2 LEAKAGE OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FROM THE SITE
Analysis of the samples collected during the SWAT program indicates that no
compounds are present in the shallow perched and deep regional aquifers, or in vadose
zone soils at levels exceeding hazardous waste criteria.
6.3 THREATS TO WATER QUALITY
The potential threats to water quality as a result of migrating gases from the site should
be adressed in the Air Quality SWAT report curently being prepared by EMCON
Associates for San Joaquin County. After the Air Quality SWAT has been completed,
a copy of the report will be provided to the RWQCB.
STL 9390314 30 1 ER)bn
