® Appendix D
Sampling and Analysis Procedures
INTRODUCTION
The sampling and analysis procedures for the monitoring program at the Corral Hollow
Sanitary Landfill are described in this appendix. The procedures provide for consistent and
reproducible sampling methods; proper application of analytical methods; accurate and
precise analytical results; and finally, these procedures provide guidelines so that the
overall objectives of the monitoring program are achieved.
The following documents were used as guidelines for the development of these
procedures:
• Procedures Manual for Groundwater Monitoring at Solid Waste Disposal Facilities,
EPA-530/SW-61 1, August 1977
• RCRA Groundwater Monitoring Technical Enforcement Guidance Document,
Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response 9950. 1, September 1986
• Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste: Physical/Chemical Methods, EPA
SW -846, 3rd edition, November 1986
• Methods for Organic Chemical Analysis of Municipal and Industrial Wastewater,
EPA -600/4-82-057, July 1982
• Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastes, EPA -600/4-79-020, revised
March 1983
Before the sampling event is begun, monitoring wells at the site will be measured for static
water levels during a single water level survey. Water levels will be converted to
elevations in mean sea level and displayed on a groundwater contour map. All (or
selected) monitoring wells will be sampled for chemical constituents after the water -level
survey is completed.
SACNNP70093M390031.9BG-94 sdg:4 D-1 Rev. 0, 420/95
