Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 20113:58 PM
To: Joyesh Chandra
Cc: jmhower@geo-logic.com
Subject: Edits to Corral Hollow Workplan revision 1
Joyesh, As we discussed, I am sending this email to clarify two questions raised by the County
in reviewing our Workplan, revision 1 for the Corral Hollow Landfill EMP project.
Based on review of the text, Section 3.4.2, first full paragraph on page 10 states that "
After the seal has been hydrated, it will be allowed to cure for at least 30 minutes prior
further well sampling or construction activities." However, Section 3.4.4, second
paragraph states: "After the bentonite chip seal is constructed, the bentonite will be
allowed to hydrate for at least one hour before additional well development."
For consistency and employing prudent practices of installing an effective bentonite seal, the
text in Section 3.4.2 should be modified to state: " After the seal has been hydrated, it will
be allowed to cure for at least one hour prior further well sampling or construction
activities."
2. In Section 3.4.6, on page 12, the third paragraph down, the workplan states: water
that is purged from each well will be temporarily contained and stored in 55 -gallon
drums, and then discharged to the ground surface
Since there is the potential for impacted groundwater to be encountered during the
sampling program, this text should be revised to state: " ...water that is purged from each
well will be temporarily contained and stored in 55 -gallon drums, and pending
laboratory results maybe discharged to the ground surface
I hope that these minor changes to the workplan are sufficient to address the regulatory
concerns and you are able to obtain the necessary well permits for this project. If I can be of
any further assistance to you, please let me know. Thanks.
Sarah Battelle, CHG
Note that we have moved. Effective 51912011. Phone and fax remain the same.
Geo -Logic Associates
11415 West Bernardo Court, Suite 200
San Diego, CA 92127
858-451-1136
858-451-1087 (fax)
858-688-8556 (cell)
9/7/2011
