Corral Hollow
Sanitary
Landfill (SWIS Number 9 3
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the above cited
documents and has the following comments:
1. Addendum to the final closure plan.
a. Page 3. 3.2. Security. The EHD recommends relocating fence to the perimeter.
b. Page 4. 3.5. Fires. The site uses sheep to control vegetation. The Caltrans closure area is
outside of the perimeter fence. Vegetation in this area will need to be controlled by
other methods (mowing). Over grown vegetation could pose a fire hazard. Provide
adequate control measures to prevent surface fire from taking place.
c. Page 4. 3.6.8 Landfill gas collection. Clarify number of extraction wells (39 or 44- see
Addendum to the postclosure maintenance plan, page 3; 2.3.8 Landfill gas
collection).
d. Page 4. 3.6.8 Landfill gas collection. Two new LFG extraction wells will be installed
in the CalTrans closure area in the closure cap extension project. The plan indicates
that the gas extraction lines will be buried. The lines will cross over the Shell Oil
line. A monument or permanent marker must be placed indicated where the
extraction lines cross over the Shell Oil line. Provide workplan.
2. Provide Health and Safety Plan for this project.
Please, submit to the EHD corrections that address the above noted items.
If you have any questions, please contact Natalia Subbotnikova, Senior R.E.H.S. at (209) 468-0338.
Robert McClellon, Program Coordinator, R.E.H.S.
Environmental Health Department
Cc: GinoYekta, Closure and Technical Services, Cal Recycle
Todd A.
