the landfill in a northeasterly direction, with the largest concentrations measured at well
MW -5. The findings of direction and source of migration from this data is consistent
with the on-site monitoring results presented in previous reports. The locations of the
temporary wells did not allow for precise determination of the extent of VOC impacts.
As a result, additional investigation will be conducted by installing additional wells at
locations approved by RWQCB staff.
® The results of groundwater sampling and analysis of the three temporary wells
constructed as part of the EMP project suggest that the three temporary well sites are
within the VOC plume that extends to the north of the CHSL. In order to determine the
extent of the plume and fulfill that requirement of the EMP workplan, three additional
well locations are proposed. The "step -out" wells will be located where VOC
concentrations are estimated to be at non-detectable levels based on extrapolation of
the isoconcentration contours for Total VOCs. These three "step -out" wells will be
drilled, logged, and sampled in accordance with the methods outlined in the County's
EMP workplan dated August 2011, and approved by the RWQCB on August 25, 2011.
Once well construction is completed, a revised Well Installation Report will be prepared
and submitted to the RWQCB. Afterward, the findings and conclusions from the EMP
investigation will be compiled and presented to the RWQCB, followed by an EFS
outlining the County's proposed course of corrective action.
Well Completion Reporte ,C Page ■ 5
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill w S E o c e AEE s
December 15, 2011
