® MONITORING RESULTS
Groundwater
Summary
Groundwater was sampled on January 28, 2013.
No VOCs were reported in the deep aquifer wells. No VOCs were reported in shallow aquifer
wells SB-1, MW-4, and MW-9A this quarter.
Shallow Aquifer
Summary
Conditions are similar to previous quarters.
No general water quality parameters were exceeded this quarter with the exception of chloride,
nitrate as nitrogen, sulfate, TDS, and Magnesium, which were exceeded in deep aquifer area well
MW-6 this quarter. This is an unusual occurrence for this well. No general water quality
parameters were exceeded in any other wells this quarter.
Ten VOCs were detected in impacted on-site well W-5 and six VOCs were detected in impacted
on-site well M -8. All of the VOCs detected in MW-8 were also detected in MW-5.
No VOCs were detected in new off-site monitoring well MW-9A, Three VOCs were detected in
new off-site monitoring well MW-10A, and four VOCs were detected in new off-site monitoring
well MW-11A. All VOCs detected in these wells are among the VOCs found in MW-5 and
MW-8, generally at lower concentrations.
The source of these VOCs is apparently from LFG emanating from the refuse discovered near the
County/Caltrans property boundary line, where the influence of the LFG system has been
minimal. As a corrective action measure, the County installed five additional LFG wells installed
in this area in December 2008. Landfill Gas System Information is provided in Appendix H.
SB-1 (Up gradient):
Concentrations of all the parameters analyzed were within established concentration limits this
quarter (Table 1).
A"significantly decreasing"trend is reported by the Sanitas program for chloride and sulfate this
quarter, and a"significant increasing"trend is reported for EC, TDS, and Magnesium this quarter
(Table 3). However, the variation in concentrations are slight, so the reports of"significant trend"
appears to be an artifact of the Sanitas statistical calculations.
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill 12 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
1Quarter 2013 Groundwater Monitoring County of San Joaquin—April 15,2013
