A "not viable" alternative is a technology
that cannot be implemented at the CHSL because of known site conditions that make
construction and/or operation impractical. When an alternative is characterized as "not
viable", the rationale for assigning this designation is presented.
3.5.1 Source Control Alternatives
Source control alternatives considered for the CHSL include expansion of the final cover
system to the 1.3-acre waste prism segment at the north end of the site and enhancing the
landfill gas extraction and treatment system to remove landfill gas and associated VOCs from
waste in Caltrans property.
Engineering Feasibility Study Geo-Logic Page ■ 13
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill A S S O C I A T E SJ
January 25,2013
