We understand that AKT Development owns the properties adjacent to the landfill and
across the road intersection. Presently we have three wells on our property monitoring the shallow
aquifer. One of these indicates the presence of volatile organic compounds (below 10 parts-per-
billion), and staff of the Regional Water Quality Control Board requires that we investigate the extent
(if any) of groundwater impact beyond our property. Monitoring of the deep aquifer shows no impact.
Investigation of possible extent of impact to the shallow aquifer would require access to each property
for approximately one day to drill to the shallow aquifer. A permanent well would not be installed;
however,the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department will require that the boring (12
inches in diameter) be filled with cement slurry. Because this material is not as strong as concrete,
the top portion of this column could be removed by heavy grading equipment if needed, so it would not
pose a permanent obstruction. Or we could install a metal marker in this cement Column for
permanent survey control if you found that useful. There would be no expense to you.
You will receive a request for permission for temporary access from the Special Projects Division of
Jan Joaquin County Public Works Department for your signature,to allow this work on your site. We
hope you will grant that request.
If you have any questions of concerns, please call me at 209-468-8504.
Sincerely,
."'rl
W.
