Drilling and completion of the well will be done by a licensed contractor. The contractor
will be responsible to comply with the work plan and construct the well per the
construction drawings and specifications.
The location of the new wells is away from refuse limit; thus, drilling of the new wells does
not include excavation of refuse or contact with refuse.
Drilling muds or liquids will not be used during drilling. All drilling equipments are
expected to be clean. The contractor will be required to clean all unclean equipments off-
site. Spoil will be dispersed around the drilled boring. All construction debris will be
removed from the site by the drilling contractor.
Any open excavations deeper than three feet will be covered with a one -inch thick piece
of plywood at the end of the working day. The edges of the plywood will be sealed
around with soil to prevent landfill gas from escaping into the atmosphere. The plywood
covered area will also be flagged with warning tape
A boring log will be compiled during the drilling of the well by SCS Engineers.
The new soil gas monitoring well, GW -1 A, will be constructed per the construction
drawings and specifications. Comments received from EHD will be incorporated into the
construction of GW -1A.
It is anticipated that GW -1A will be constructed immediately after drilling. Unless
otherwise directed, GW -1A will be completed in the presence of EHD Unit 6 staff.
The installation of GW -1A well has tentatively been scheduled to begin on April 10tH
2008.
Work Plan — Soil Gas Monitoring Well (GW1-A) Installation San Joaquin County
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill Public Works Department
April 3, 2008 Page 4 of 7 Solid Waste Division
