Hello Todd: I understand from the County that they would want to proceed on their own
property and have Caltrans do their part. However, Caltrans response to RWQCB was that
they feel as if the County is responsible for closing and maintaining the entire portion. It
would be great to get a response to Caltrans from, your legal and see what you think. We
are following your direction and support your agency's decision. As you know, the
latest schedule for closure submitted by the County puts this closure for sometimes around
March 2009. It would be great to have these uncapped portions closed sometimes this
year. We could get together sometimes next week if you like and discuss this issue a bit
more. Please call (341-6354) or e-mail me if you have any questions. Thanks........ I have not received any comment on the Caltrans letter from
our legal. I will try to get an answer. Let me know what either of you are thinking and we
can go from there. This design will conform to the Addendum to the Closure Plan sent to you and
Gino on April 1, 2008 unless you have concerns or questions.
I have not received comments from you gentlemen regarding that Plan, and so would like to assume
that we may proceed. Please let me know if my assumption is correct.
Best regards,
Mike Carroll
W. Michael Carroll, PE
Senior Civil Engineer, Solid Waste Division
1810 E.
