The areas included the
perimeter drainage channel as well as the perimeter road. The County of San
Joaquin Department of Public Works (Public Works) as the owner and operator of
Corral Hollow Landfill initiated multiple investigations to determine and
delineate the horizontal and vertical boundaries of the discovered waste. Through
their investigations, it was also determined that the waste footprint extended
beyond the previously determined landfill footprint and into property owned by
Caltrans. Public Works requested permission from Caltrans to conduct further
intrusive investigation on Caltrans property to better delineate the extent and
boundary of the waste. After securing permission to conduct this investigation, it
was determined that the property owned by Caltrans contains waste.
.. .
Based on the discovered waste on the two properties, CIWMB staff considers
.......it
both the County as well as Caltrans responsible for closing and maintaining these
t ■
"Tw°"T—
areas. Please note that the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
MANAGI.-
BOARD (RWQCB), in their January 30, 2008, letter, also named both the County and
Caltrans as responsible parties for the Corral Hollow Landfill.
ORIGINAL PRINTED ONioo 96 POST CONSUMER CONTENT,PROCESSED CHLORINE FREE PAPER
