i l ^ • • Y 4. f • <br />Data collected on August 28, 1993 indicates the groundwater beneath <br />the landfill site flows easterly toward the Stockton pumping <br />depression. <br />The average flow velocity was calculated using Darcy's Law: <br />Velocity = Conductivity x Hydraulic Gradient <br />Porosity (per cent) <br />The groundwater gradient was determined from the ground water <br />contour map (see enclosed plat) using water levels obtained in <br />August 1993. The calculated gradient equal 0.00736 feet/feet. <br />Porosity was estimated at 30 per cent based on a published range <br />data (Freeze and Cherry). The range of hydraulic conductivity for <br />the shallow water -bearing zone was determined to be between 0.00094 <br />cm/sec to 0.015 cm/sec. Using the above data and equation, it was <br />determined that the ground water flow velocity ranged between to <br />23.8 to 380.8 feet per year. <br />
