CITY OF STOCKTON
#*A
A94 f!
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS '
CITY HALL
425 N. EL DORADO STREET
STOCKTON,CA 95202-1997
January 21, 1997
Steve Mindt
Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELLS FOR THE FRENCH CAMP LANDFILL
The City of Stockton has retained Camp, Dresser& McKee (CDM)to conduct a groundwater
investigation at the French Camp Landfill. As part of this work, CDM will be installing a
number of groundwater monitoring wells for which you have received permit applications.
At the time the permit applications were submitted by CDM, a question arose concerning the
proper disposal of the soil that will result from the construction of the wells. Since none of the
sites for the new wells have shown a history of contamination, the soil will be disposed of at the
French Camp Landfill where it will be used as daily cover.
If, during the well construction, there are indications that the soil is contaminated, it will be
tested and disposed of accordingly. If you have any questions, please contact me at 937-8829.
ROBERT MURDOCH
SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER
cc: Stephen Chen
Mike Miller
Mike Grey, CDM
"STOCKTON...CALIFORNIA'S SUNRISE SEAPORT"
