• French Camp Landfill
City of Stockton Groundwater Investigation
MW-4 is currently being influenced by slough water based upon previous data interpretation.
CDM-8A will serve as one of three downgradient detection monitoring wells in accordance with the
Article 5 definition. It will be screened at first encountered groundwater, which is expected at a
depth of approximately 30 to 35 feet based upon borinfeet above,go agcount fos from r waterTlevel fluctuationshe well screen ll
extend 15 feet below the water table, and
Monitoring Well CDMA:The purpose of this well is to monitor the uppermost aquifer which is at
a point hydraulically downgradient of the limit of the waste management unit. The specific well
location will be determined after review of historic disposal information and the aerial photographs
available. It will replace MW-3 as a detection monitoring well, which has been installed through the
refuse fill as indicated in borehole logs. CDM-9A will be screened from about 15 feet below the
water table to five feet above.
Monitoring Well CDM-9B,located adjacent to CDM-9A,is intended to monitor the deeper aquifer
zone downgradient of the waste footprint. The purpose of this well is to provide data to assess if
contaminant migration at a greater depth than the uppermost aquifer is occurring. Data from this
well will be compared to the deep, upgradient well,CDM-7B,for comparison purposes. Well CDM-
9B will consist of a 10 foot screened interval initiated below the clay layer separating the uppermost
aquifer from the deeper aquifer.
Monitoring Well CDM--QA: This well is the third proposed detection monitoring compliance well
located at the downgradient edge of the waste management unit. The specific well location will be
determined after the activities to define the limit of fill have been concluded.
As depicted in Figure 1,CDM-10A will be located in the vicinity of the southeast corner of the
disposal site. It will be screened in the uppermost aquifer, with 15 feet of screen placed below the
water table,and five feet above.
Well Drilling Operations
The seven monitoring wells,CDM-6A;CDM-7A,B;CDM-8A;CDM-9A,B;and CDM-10A will be
installed using a hollow-stem auger drill rig. Drilling will be performed by the CDM project team
subcontractor,Western Strata Exploration,Inc. A 4-inch diameter PVC well will be installed as
presented in Figure 2. Actual boring depths and screened zones will be based upon depth to water.
Boreholes will remain open until water levels have stabilized to obtain an accurate depth to water.
Sampling will occur every 5 feet until the borehole is terminated to characterize the lithology. If
refuse is encountered in the borehole, the borehole will be abandoned and a new location selected
for the monitoring well.
• Drill cuttings will be placed in 55-gallon drums and transported to the working face for disposal.
All well locations will be surveyed by City of Stockton(City) forces upon completion of the
program. The well installation operations will be coordinated with the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division. Costs to obtain permits is not included in the attached budget.
3
CDM Camp Dresser&McKee
ViNV5oowoe
