comparison of upgradient (SW-1 and SW-2) to downgradient(SW-3) surface water
samples indicates generally similar inorganic constituent concentrations in the upgradient
and downgradient surface water station, suggesting that the landfill is not impacting
surface water quality. During the current monitoring period, no CL were exceeded, and
with the exception of turbidity in all three surface-water samples, no statistically
significant increasing trends were noted. Since turbidity exhibits a statistically significant
increasing trend at background surface water stations SW-1 and SW-2, the increasing
trend in turbidity at SW-3 is unlikely to be indicative of an impact from the facility.
The results of the COC sampling conducted during the monitoring period indicates that
excluding the metals, no COCs were detected in groundwater, leachate, and surface water
samples. Several MCL exceedances were measured for arsenic, iron, and manganese in
surface water and/or groundwater monitoring points. However, given the fact that
elevated arsenic, iron, and manganese concentrations were measured in background wells
and upgradient surface water stations, the MCL exceedances do not appear to be related
to a release from the landfill.
Field screening results from soil-pore gas monitoring probes indicate that no methane
was measured in soil-pore gas monitoring probes during the monitoring period, or over
the past year.
8.0 REFERENCES
California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, 2007, "Order
No. R5-2007-0046 Waste Discharge Requirements for Forward Inc.
