Water Quality Monitoring Report
French Camp Landfill
Weekly site visits were conducted by French Camp Landfill personnel during the monitoring
period. Records of the French Camp Landfill inspections are on file at the Republic Services
Forward Landfill Field Office. Weekly site visit summary reports for the monitoring period are
also presented in Appendix A. According to these weekly reports, the French Camp Landfill
Operations Manager certifies that standard observations were conducted during the
monitoring period (see signed "Certification Statement" included in Appendix A).
3.0 SOLID WASTE MONITORING
The French Camp Landfill has been formally closed and no longer receives waste.
4.0 WATER QUALITY MONITORING
4.1 Sampling and Laboratory Analyses
All of the groundwater and leachate monitoring wells and surface water monitoring stations
were sampled on March 2, 2015. Quarterly depth-to-water and stream gauging were
performed on March 2 and May 20, 2015.
A single sample set was collected from each sampling point (groundwater, leachate, and
surface water) and analyzed by BC Laboratories for the parameters stipulated in RWQCB Order
No. R5-2007-0046, as summarized in Table 1. Water quality samples were also analyzed in the
field for oxidation-reduction potential, turbidity, temperature, specific conductance, and pH
and these field measurements were recorded on well data sheets. The groundwater and
leachate monitoring wells and surface water monitoring points were sampled by Del-Tech
Geotechnical Support Services (Del-Tech) in accordance with the sampling and analysis
procedures detailed in Appendix B. Well data sheets, raw laboratory data, certificates of
analyses, and chain-of-custody records for the sampling program are included in Appendix C.
The laboratory analyses and field results for groundwater wells and surface water sampling
stations are summarized in Tables 2 through 5.
4.2 QA/QC Results
The quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program completed for the monitoring event
included analyses of one duplicate sample, one trip blank sample, one field blank sample, and
laboratory method blanks. The field and trip blanks were analyzed for VOCs by EPA method
82608. Laboratory method blanks are analyzed for all of the analytes included in the
monitoring program. During the monitoring period, no analytes were detected in blank
samples.
A duplicate sample was collected from well MW-10A and labeled DUP. Duplicate test results
are presented along with the primary data in Table 2. Comparison of the primary and duplicate
sample results indicates that there was good agreement with a relative percent difference
(RPD) of less than five percent when both results are measurable concentrations above the
practical quantitation limit (PQL).
