Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95201 s
Re: Landfill Gas Monitoring at Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill
Dear Mr. Karam:
This letter presents the results of the May 23, 1994, landfill gas sampling event at the
Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill. The sampling event included collecting and analyzing gas
samples from four landfill gas monitoring probes located on the perimeter of the landfill.
This sampling program was conducted to comply with Amendments 2 and 3 of the San
Joaquin County Public Health Services Department (PHSD) April 5, 1994, letter outlining
new program requirements for the final closure and post closure maintenance plans. These
amendments required the County to collect landfill gas samples from the four landfill
monitoring probes by May 30,1994, analyze the samples for the ten Calderon compounds
using Environmental Protection Agency Method TO-14 and submit the results to the
PHSD by June 30, 1994.
The gas samples were collected in pre-cleaned and evacuated stainless steel SUMMATm
canister provided by AIR TOXICS LTD. Samples were analyzed for volatile organic
compounds by EPA method TO-14. The results of the May 23, 1994, monitoring event
are presented in Table 1. Table 1 also includes historical monitoring results for probes
GW-1 and GW-4 from a February 22, 1992 monitoring event. Samples were not collected
from probes GW-2 and GW-3 during the 1992 event. The monitoring data shows that
most constituent concentrations have decreased significantly since the February 22, 1992
monitoring event. Copies of the laboratory analytical reports are attached.
