A. Perform an aerial survey of the site.
is B. Provide a topographic map with a maximum
contour interval of two feet.
C. Provide an iso-settlement map showing the change in
elevation from the map produced at the time of closure
and the most recent topographic map with a maximum
contour interval of two feet.
10. FINAL SITE FACE
Final landfill slopes will be vegetated with Bromme grass upon
placement of the vegetative soil layer. The vegetation will help
stabilize slopes and reduce erosion. The rooting depth of the
grass will not exceed the thickness of .the one foot vegetative
cover layer so the clay layer will not be disturbed. The
vegetation will be seeded at the beginning of the rainy season, so
no irrigation will be necessary.
A slope stability analysis, dated January 3, 1992, was performed by
Kleinfelder Inc. and is enclosed in this Closure Plan as Appendix
B.
1. INSTALLATION OF DRAINAGECONTROL
The proposed drainage facilities are designed in accordance with
the County of San Joaquin Department of Public Works, Manual for
Storm Drainage Design (January 1973) , except that the drainage
facilities at the landfill are sized to accommodate the volume and
peak flow rate expected from a storm having a 100 year-24 hour
frequency instead of the 10 year frequency. The intensity-duration
curve for the 100-year rainfall was developed from data for the
Stockton Disposal Plant as provided in the National Oceanographic
and Atmospheric publication, Precipitation - Frequency Atlas of the
Western United States (1973) . A copy of the intensity-duration
curve is included with the drainage calculations located in
Appendix D. The computations of peak flow are based upon the
Rational Method formula, Q = CAI, where C is the coefficient of
runoff, A is the area, and I is the rainfall intensity.
The final grade of the cover over the landfill shall be at a
minimum slope of 3 percent as required by the regulations. Storm
water runoff from the top of the landfill and the maintenance road
will be directed to the drainage ditch system that encircles the
top of the landfill. The drainage ditch will be typically graded
at 0. 2 percent toward downdrains located approximately every 400
feet around the landfill.
9
