This indicates a change of background water quality that has been noted in
past monitoring reports. We also note a restoration of the direction of groundwater flow
to the historical north-to-south. No activity at our site could cause this change..
Our statistical analysis software (Sanitas) identifies an increasing trend for Chlorides
and turbidity at the impacted well MW-2 this quarter, whereas in the first quarter the
software identified a decreasing trend in Chlorides and no trend in turbidity. This
demonstrates how the software identifies a "significant trend" when neither the
concentration nor the increase is significant.
Only two VOCs were reported in MW-2 this quarter, both at concentrations less than
3 ppb, similar to the last three quarters. Note that three VOCs have been reported
since 2004 through the first quarter of 2007. This consistent reduction in the number of
VOCs may indicate gradual improvement of water quality and the success of the
corrective action measures. No VOCs were reported in the other wells. No parameters
were found in any of the Quality Control Blanks this quarter.
Progress of corrective action against VOC impact at MW-2 is included in the first and
third quarterly reports, and therefore is not included this quarter.
