Per your request, we have
included data points in both the time-series plots and in the statistical evaluations that are
identified by Sanitas as "outliers."
The concentration of Chlorides has again decreased at upgradient well MW-1 this quarter, the
cause of which is not apparent from data collected at the site. Chlorides at MW-2 have also
decreased, remaining at a low concentration(25 ppm), although Sanitas indicates an increasing
trend for Chlorides at this well.
Two VOCs were found in well MW-1, which were not found in quality control blanks. This well
was resampled on December 17, 2004. We note that this was the first quarter in over two years
that this occurred. Three VOCs were found in well MW-2,but because this well has been
previously impacted, and monitoring is under corrective action, it was not resampled.
The additional surface drainage facilities on the Secondary site has, so far, prevented further
sliding of soil from the top deck shoulder onto the landfill sideslopes. Significant new growth is
seen on the recently seeded areas that were subject to sliding last year, as well as on the bum area
of the Primary site. We expect that the site will be subject to much less erosion and drainage
problems due to the drainage improvements this year, and the vegetative cover established on the
top deck after seeding last year.
This report includes results of the continuing investigation of the apparent connection between
groundwater quality at groundwater well MW-4 and the wastewater pond at the migrant housing
complex. So far, the data seems to support the idea that well MW-4 is affected by the ponds.
However, we note that Section E-4 of the Monitoring and Reporting Program(attached) exempts
MW-4 from compliance with regards to chloride, electrical conductivity, and total dissolved solids
because MW-4 could easily be impacted by the ponds. It appears that the MRP recognized that
the impact to the well by the ponds was expected. Given this exemption, we would suggest that
this investigation could be discontinued.
