Box 1810 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> REVIEW OF THE THIRD QUARTER 2007 GROUNDWATER AND SURFACE WATER <br /> MONITORING REPORT FOR HARNEY LANE SANITARY LANDFILL, SAN JOAQUIN <br /> COUNTY <br /> The Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Water Board) staff has reviewed the 3rd <br /> Quarter 2007 Groundwater and Surface Water Monitoring Report for the Harney Lane <br /> Sanitary Landfill. The Report was prepared in accordance with Waste Discharge <br /> Requirements (WDRs) Order No. 96-139. Staff finds the report complete. However, volatile <br /> organic compounds (VOCs) continue to be detected in groundwater samples collected from <br /> well MW-2 in violation of the WDRs. The Report also notes increasing trends of EC, TDS, <br /> turbidity, and chloride in several of the other wells, which indicates that landfill leachate maybe <br /> discharging to groundwater. <br /> Staff understands that San Joaquin County Public Works is preparing well permits for the <br /> approved 'installation of two additional gas extraction wells at the Harney Land Sanitary <br /> Landfill. Please notify staff a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the drilling activities. <br /> Please review the Monitoring and Reporting Checklist.
