1
the number of VOCs detected in well MW-2. This is evidence that the landfill gas extraction system
has been effective in reducing impacts to groundwater.
Progress of Corrective Action Measures, which documents the effectiveness of current corrective
action, is submitted twice yearly in the first and third quarterly groundwater monitoring reports.
MONITORING PROGRAM
Water quality was monitored consistent with WDR Order No. 96-139.
Groundwater
The groundwater well network consists of up-gradient well MW-1 and down-gradient wells MW-2,
MW-3, and MW-4(Figure 2). All wells are equipped with dedicated purge and sampling pumps. In
January 2006, all wells were resurveyed based on the NAVD88 control rather than MSL. Top of
Casing (TOC) elevations have been changed on table 1 to correspond with the new surveyed
elevations.
Groundwater at MW-2 has been found to be impacted.
Groundwater samples are analyzed for the following quarterly monitoring and field parameters as
specified in WDR Order No. 96-139:
Temperature
pH
Turbidity
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
Chloride *
Electrical Conductivity(EC)*
* Per Section E-4 of the Monitoring and Reporting Program, MW-4 is not a compliance well for
these parameters due to the possibility of interference from the sewage disposal ponds located
directly up-gradient.
Groundwater samples are analyzed annually for the following additional parameters:
Sulfates
Bicarbonate Alkalinity
Nitrate -Nitrogen
Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen
Groundwater samples are analyzed every 5 years for the following constituents of concern (COC):
Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
4`"Quarter and Annual 2006 Groundwater Monitoring Report County of San Joaquin—January 15,2007
2
