No VOCs were reported in MW-3. VOCs, other than false positives, have not been reported in this
well since October 18, 1999. This is continuing evidence of the effectiveness of the ongoing
corrective action and postclosure maintenance.
MW-4
The concentrations of all parameters were within the established concentration limits. A decreasing
trend in EC was seen this quarter. In addition, a decreasing trend in TDS was seen in MW-4 this
quarter. The decreasing trends in EC and TDS indicate that the total water quality for this well is
improving.
There was also a significantly increasing trend for Chloride; therefore, the concentration limit for
this parameter was taken from the WDRs.
No VOCs were reported in MW-4. VOCs were last reported in this well when sampled in
October 1999.
Surface Water
Summary
Surface water samples were last retrieved on December 27, 2006. All concentrations of monitoring
and field parameters were below established concentration limits where the limits could be
determined in the first quarter of 2007.
GROUNDWATER DIRECTION AND FLOW
ATE
Groundwater elevations continue to show groundwater flow towards the south (Figure 2).
Groundwater flow velocity was calculated to be 50.5 feet per year with a gradient of 0.0015 foot per
year(Appendix G).
STANDARD OBSERVATIONS
The site was regularly inspected throughout the monitoring period. A summary of the observations
for each month of the quarter is enclosed(Appendix H). A signature on the form certifies that all
observations were performed and are accurate.
RUN-OFF/RUN-ON ON FACILITIES
General
The Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill utilizes a single facility to control run-off and run-on: a perimeter
berm/road surrounding the site, which generally prevents any water from entering the site. On the
inside of this road is a ditch that carries all surface runoff from the unit to a storm water retention
Hamey Lane Sanitary Landfill Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
1 Quarter 2007 Groundwater Monitoring Report County of San Joaquin—April 15,2007
6
