PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 GENERAL <br /> Well depths are approximate. The actual well depth shall be determined in the <br /> field, based on where the water deep level is encountered. <br /> 3.02 DRILLING <br /> A. The Contractor shall decontaminate the drilling rig and all drilling equipment <br /> before drilling and monitoring well installation in the presence.of the <br /> Engineer. The Contractor shall clear the boring location of all brush and <br /> minor obstructions. <br /> B. If the borehole was over-drilled, the bottom of the hole shall be filled with <br /> sand to raise the bottom of the hole. <br /> 3.03 WELL INSTALLATION <br /> A. Well installation shall be in the presence of San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Inspector. Contractor shall coordinate all work with <br /> EHD inspections. Well construction means any material placed in the <br /> borehole. <br /> B. The Contractor shall remove soil cuttings prior to construction of the well. <br /> The Contractor shall measure the total depth of the completed borehole <br /> using a weighted sounding line or other method as agreed with the <br /> Contractor. Contractor shall measure the borehole depth in the presence of <br /> the EHD inspector. If heaving or cave-ins have taken place, the Contractor <br /> shall clean out or re-drill the borehole before well installation. <br /> C. The Contractor shall ask for inspection by the Engineer of the casing, <br /> screen, and any other well construction materials prior to installation. The <br /> well screens, bentonite seals and neat cement seals shall be installed in <br /> accordance with the following sequence: <br /> 1. The Contractor shall connect and lower the well casing assembly to <br /> the depth directed by the Engineer. <br /> 2. If the well casing assembly is dropped, lowered abruptly, or for any <br /> other reason suspected of being damaged during placement, the <br /> well casing assembly shall be removed from the borehole and <br /> inspected. The need to inspect the casing will be at the sole <br /> judgment of the Engineer. If the well casing assembly rises after <br /> being placed in the borehole due to heaving formation material, the <br /> Contractor shall not place any drilling equipment (drill pipe, <br /> Construction Specifications San Joaquin County <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Wells Page 6 of 9 Public Works Dept <br /> Revised 11-23-09 Solid Waste Division <br />
