a) Concentration of methane gas may not exceed the lower explosive
limit for methane (5%) at the monitoring wells.
b) Concentration of methane gas may not exceed 25 percent of the lower
explosive limit for methane (1.25%) in the labor camp strucuture roof
vents.
2. Monitoring Methods
Combustible gas concentration is measured with instruments utilizing infrared
absorption, catalytic combustion, or thermal conductivity. If catalytic combustion is
used, oxygen will also be measured to verify sufficient oxygen to enable the
catalytic combustion feature to function.
Combustible gas concentration (percent by volume) will be recorded.
3. Frequency
Points of compliance will be monitored quarterly, or more often as needed.
4. Reporting
Monitoring results will be reported quarterly to the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department and to the California Integrated Waste
Management Board. The report will include:
1. The combustible gas concentrations at all monitoring perimeter boundary
soil gas wells and labor camp structures using the data sheets (Attached)
or similar.
2. A figure showing the location of perimeter monitoring wells and off-site
structures, such as Figure B-1 or similar.
Harney Sanitary Landfill County of San Joaquin
Landfill Gas Monitoring Plan B-4 Department of Public Works
Revised July 30,2009 Solid Waste Division
