® Groundwater samples are analyzed annually for the following additional parameters:
• Sulfates
• Bicarbonate Alkalinity
• Nitrate— Nitrogen
• Chloride
• Calcium
• Magnesium
• Potassium
• Sodium
Groundwater samples are analyzed every 5 years for the following constituents of concern
(COC):
• Volatile Organic Compounds (EPA 624)
• Semi Volatile Organic Compounds
• Organochlorine Pesticides, PCBs
• Chlorophenoxy Herbicides
• ICP Metals (26 metals)
CDCs were last taken during the first semester 2009. The next groundwater COC monitoring
event will occur in the first semester of 2014. Monitoring well elevations are taken quarterly.
Surface Water
Surface water samples are collected after the first storm of the rainy season that produces
significant flow and semiannually thereafter when water is flowing. Samples are collected from
monitoring point S-1 (upstream) and monitoring point S-2 (downstream) of the landfill (Figure 2).
Surface water samples are analyzed for the following semiannually monitoring and field
parameters:
• Temperature • VOCs
• EC • Total Alkalinity
• pH 0. Total Hardness
• Turbidity • Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)
• Dissolved Oxygen (DO) • TDS
• Chloride
Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill 3 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
1't Semester 2013 Groundwater Monitoring Report County of San Joaquin—July 15,2013
