This is
consistent with the statement in our June 17, 2008 letter to Andrew Keller, Environmental Manager for
TLE Properties, Inc.
At this time, our view is that, monitoring probes PGP1 and PGP2 are still valid probes for the monitoring
of landfill gas at the site but additional probes can be constructed, if the owner so desires. All
constructed monitoring probes shall meet all applicable sections of Article 6, 27 CCR. We hope you
find our response timely.
From: Jeff Bennett [mailto:)Bennett@millerbrooksenv.com]
Sent: Thursday, July 03, 2008 3:23 PM
To: Gebrehawariat, Tadese; Yekta, Gino
Cc: Andrew Keller
Subject: Cove Contractors Landfill Vapor Probes
Tad and Gino,
I took the attached photo last week while in the field to show you the placement of the existing PGP -1
with respect to the property line. The original clay pit (and subsequent landfill) extended westward to the
property line. Based on this photo, PGP -1 is approximately 30 feet east of the property line and therefore
about 30 feet into the landfill. In addition, I was thinking that it might be informative for you to see the soil
cuttings from the new groundwater monitoring well we installed in order to have a point of comparison for
evaluating the presence of construction/demolition debris in the sediment recorded on the logs for the
PGP -1 and PGP -2 pilot borings. I'll be back on site next week on Wednesday and Thursday (7/9 and
7/10) and if you are available I'd welcome the opportunity to show you why we feel that the PGP -1 and
PGP -2 are located within the footprint of the landfill.
During installation of MW -10A, Natalia Subbotnikova of the SJCEHD, requested that she receive
authorization from the CIWMB for the installation of the two proposed landfill gas probes. I explained to
her that you letter clearly stated that the property owner could install them if they wanted to but that you
were not requiring them. It was my understanding that she needs to hear that you are OK with us
installing the new probes. Could you please contact her by telephone (209) 468-0338 or e-mail
nsubbotnikova_@.sjcehd.com?
Please contact me with any questions or concerns via e-mail or by telephone (numbers below).
Thanks,
Jeffrey D.
